The 2007 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is medium gold-colored. It is a little shy and restrained to start, needing some coaxing to reveal notes of honey-coated walnuts, chamomile tea, and peach preserves, plus wafts of lime leaves, dried mandarin peel, and brown sugar. The palate is decadently rich, with just enough freshness to lift the opulent fruit to a long finish.

The 2007 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an open bouquet with fragrant honey, acacia and quince aromas, hints of mirabelle coming through with time. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite tangy on the entry, touches of marmalade and quince again with very impressive definition on the finish. Superb. Tasted at the 2007 horizontal in Sauternes.

Sauternes Fine Wine

Sauternes

Sauternes, a renowned Bordeaux appellation in the Graves region, is famous for its luxurious sweet white wines made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). This fungus concentrates sugars, creating wines with rich sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity. Sauternes wines feature complex aromas and flavours of apricot, honey, peach, citrus, and vanilla, with excellent ageing potential. Top producers include Château d'Yquem, Château Rieussec, Château Suduiraut, and Château Coutet.
